It was the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw! We did it! The Polish community rose to the occasion!

For the first time in history, the Katyn 1940 Monument in Jersey City, NJ, by master Andrzej Pityński, glowed with white and red colors. The sight of the illuminated Polish soldier against the background of Manhattan was breathtaking!

In this way, the Polish community celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw. That evening we experienced national pride, joy from the Polish victory and celebration together.

There were also Polish patriotic and religious songs as well as soldiers' songs. The joint singing of the songs "Bogurodzica" and "Z dawna Polski, tyś Królową" was a tribute to Our Lady Queen of Poland, for her care over the Polish nation in August 1920.

Saturday evening of August 15, 2020 in Jersey City definitely belonged to the Polish community. It was a time of unity and pride in being Polish. Together, we admired the beauty and majesty of the Polish soldier that dominated Exchange Place that evening.

The event was part of the celebration of the anniversary of the victorious Battle of Warsaw over the Bolsheviks and was organized by the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark, Stowarzyszenie Pamięć, Narodowe Forum Kresowe USA and Banner of Jasna Gora.
