Agnieszka Korbica, born in Rydultowy, Poland developed a love of photography and travel at an early age. At first her family, friends and the town she called home were her subjects. Those who knew Agnieszka always remembered her sith a camera in hand. Her candid photographs provided an insightful depiction of this small and beautiful Polish community. Graduating with a Bachelor degree in Tourism and Hostelling from The Upper Silesian School of Commerce in Katowice, Ms Korbica set off with her camera and backpack to see the world. Traveling throughout Europe she visited numerous countries. In 2001 Agnieszka moved to Northern Ireland for two years. During this time she explored England, Scotland and the Irelands. In 2004 she came to the United States wanting to learn more. While having the busy schedule of an au pair, she took photography classes at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey in New Milford, and also went to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She also attended Union County College for a degree in fine arts photography. After taking all the art classes she left college and opened her own photography & design studio in Bloomfield, New Jersey. For several years she has been a teacher assistant in summer photography programs for Young Audiences New Jersey where she taught digital photography for inner city children in Newark. In addition to photographing in tri-state area, Agnieszka loves capturing the world through her camera during her travels.
….All landscapes ask the same question in the same whisper. “I am watching you – are you watching yourself in me?” To tune in, without reverence, idly – but with real inward attention… You can extract the essence of a place once you know how. If you get as still as a needle, you’ll be there.
(Lawrence Durrell, Spirit of Place: Letters and Essays on Travel)
With this in mind the idea was born in Agnieszka’s head. Between Earth and Sky is a collection of black and white landscapes from Agnieszka’s travels around the United States and Europe. Not always was she sitting still as a needle, but she repeatedly enjoyed peaceful moments on the top of Colorado fourteeners as much as the one on the hot desert or by the breezy sea. During her solo journeys she reached amazing places and met fantastic people. With the camera always by her side she captured lots of memorable photos. Through her photography she enjoys sharing the beauty of the picturesque landscapes with you.
