FRANK GUBERNAT – A RETROSPECTIVE SHOW AT THE SKULSKI ART GALLERY

The Skulski Art Gallery of the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark, New Jersey is pleased to present a retrospective show of acrylics, watercolors, pastels, photography and others by New Jersey artist and educator Frank Gubernat from September 7 through 30, 2012.

Please join us at the opening reception and meet the artist on Friday, September 7, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. The public is welcome, admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

Frank Gubernat received M.A. degree in Mixed Media Printmaking from Montclair State University, B.F.A. degree in Advertising Design from Rochester Institute of Technology and Supervisor of Art Certificate from Seton Hall University.

He worked in advertising as a free-lancer and in an ad agency; in a graphic studio with an emphasis on packaging point of sales displays. He started teaching high school art and crafts and art history and accumulated 26 credits in education at Seton Hall, Montclair State & Trenton State and a K-12 Teaching Certificate. Along with teaching, he was also Yearbook Advisor, Literary/Art Magazine Advisor. Twice, he co-chaired the Middle States Evaluation Committee at Colonia High School. In summers, he taught crafts to grades 3 – 6 in Title One Programs. He taught painting to adults classes in Woodbridge, Linden, Somerset Art Association.

He became involved with the AENJ, becoming a representative and member of the administrative committee.

He initiated the AENJ Artist/Teacher Network and set up exhibitions in corporate galleries, commercial galleries, 5 universities, 2 museums, (Newark Museum and Monmouth Museum). He was awarded “Art Teacher of the Year” by the AENJ at their state convention. He was also presented with the “Governor’s Award” for his contribution to art education in the state.

Now retired and moved into smaller studio quarters, Frank works in 2 dimensional media. He often paints in plain air, continuing to strengthen his skills and mastery of color, a lifetime career. He has exhibited in drawing, printmaking, oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, mixed media, photography, and his work is in private collections in 8 states.
