SYLWIA NEUPANE went to Nepal in 2003 with the intention of touching the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains and Buddhist monasteries situated on the mountain tops. Although she did not find the perfect place of Shangri-La, Nepal became her home.
“When I was a child, I use to sit with my father over the geographical atlas of the World and looked at the Himalayas region and remember thinking that one day I will end up going there…”, says Sylwia.
She was always interested in Buddhism and tradition of Nepal and Tibet. While living in Nepal she begun study the teachings of Buddha, as well as Natural Medicine. Unfort6unately, in April 2013 Nepal was hit by very strong earth quakes. “ Within one minute, most of us became homeless, without roof over our heads. Finding shelter away from the slopes, precipice, mountains became a challenge for everyday life”, says Sylwia.
Photography is a great passion for Sylwia. This exhibition is a tribute to people of all Nepal, especially those living in villages in the remote areas of the Himalayas, for their strength, courage, dedication and determination to find joy by just being. Sylwia Neupane captured the moments and feelings of people in time of tragedy, who despite all keep their values, dignity and compassion, always willing to help others.
