A slide presentation, titled: "Zion, Bryce, and Glen Canyon"

Join us on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 as we will have the pleasure of viewing the breath taking photographs of the Zion, Bryce, and Glen Canyon taken by Dr. Frederick Dammont. Dr. Dammont, a professional physicist, and an amateur art photographer, is a veteran of more than seventy individual photographic print exhibitions, hundreds of slide presentations and countless group exhibitions. The presentation will begin at 7:00 PM and last for approximately two hours, coffee and light refreshments will be served.

In South-Western Utah, nature and man, in concert, created a most fabulous scenery, a gift for all to enjoy. Old geological forces and ancestral seas layered and formed the crust of the earth, carved by water and wind and sculpted by frost and thaw into most fantastic, surrealistic shapes. In our times, men flooded river beds, opening easy access to view its breath-taking beauty.
No poet or painter could do justice to the surreal landscape, massed in Bryce Canyon, flushed in every shade of pink. It must be experienced to be believed! Starting with the apt description by its previous owner, Ebenezer Bryce, who declared that it is a “Hell of place to lose a cow” everybody it on its own.
The Virgin River carved the rock which formed the canyon of Zion, its walls looming thousands of feet over the twenty foot wide bed. Now, the river is only navigable on foot, knee deep in water, all the time fearing of losing one’s life in a sudden flood.
The backed-up Colorado River, up-streaming of the Glen Canyon Dam, flooded the canyon and the maze of its tributaries for an unreal boat ride in fiords at the bottom of perpendicular walls of amber stone, under the bluest skies ever seen.
With such subject matter, Dr. Dammont’s presentation is certain to please all who attend. All are welcome!
