BARBARA FALENDER, sculptress, was born in 1947 in Wroclaw, Poland. Studied at the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of Prof. Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz and received her diploma in 1972. The artist uses stone, bronze and porcelain, combining variety of materials or types of marble. “…The sculpture of Barbara Falender contain something, which I consider the most interesting characteristics of Polish art of the 60th and 70th. It is an artistic testimony to the moral sexual revolution that changed and liberated modern culture. However, while this revolution transformed the Western culture completely, in socialist Poland it was a marginal phenomenon that was suppressed and censored, and is today difficult to recover. The art of the sculptress is one of the unique remains of this breakthrough, which was never fully realized in Poland, and is now once again negated…”, says Pawel Leszkowicz, art historian.

TOMASZ MISZTAL, sculptor. Born in 1958 in Zamosc, Poland. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in 1982. Received PhD diploma in 1992. Professor at the Faculty of Drawing and Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts, Gdansk, from 1982 thru 1993. Worked and lived in Portugal, 1994-1997. Freelance designer from 1993 to present. Since December 1997 in USA.
